Feb 20, 2019· I compared the 69 cal 1842 musket firing a 412 grain ball and a 730 grain mini, a 1855 musket with a 510 gr mini, and a AR15 with 55 gr. bullet. Most of my time was taken up by trying to find weights of rounds, powder charge, velocities, ballistic coefficients of each round, (except for the AR, it was a swag for the musket rounds), and computing the sectional densities of the mini's.

Pull the ball and get a mold that makes a smaller ball. Armisport recommends using a patched round ball if you are live firing the Armi 69 cal. smoothbore. The ball they suggest is a.678 with a.010 patch. Most people don't use patches for military style muskets but that is up to you.
